Baby Lola Update

A week ago today I started having some pretty good contractions (at least I thought they were good ones), so Josh and I went to the doctor's office. At that point I was only 36 weeks so they wanted me to hold off for at least another week. I have been taking this horrible medicine that makes me so nervous and makes my heart race like crazy, and they wanted me off my feet for this last week. I did pretty good with the occassional trips out of the house just so I wouldn't go stir crazy.

Then as we were getting ready for church yesterday Josh and I were laughing, saying that my water was going to break halfway through sacrament meeting...well, my water didn't break, but the contractions started about 11:30 A.M., halfway through the sacrament meeting. One of the labor and delivery nurses is in our ward, and she came back after the meeting was over and was timing them and feeling my tummy and told me to get to the hospital. Those contractions were alot harder and more consistent. Well, we came home and I took my medicine to slow everything down. They have told me that if they last more than 45 min after taking the meds, then I should get to the hospital. They were about 3-5 minutes apart for the next 35 minutes, and then slowed down. So we decided not to go to the hospital. about 20 min later, some really hard pains were coming, so I got in a warm bath to see if they would go away. That didn't help much, so we finally went in to get checked.

By the time we got to the hospital everything had slowed way down. They put the monitors on me, but there wasn't much going on. SO, they sent me home. The nurse asked me how hard the pains were on a scale of 1-10, and even though they hurt pretty bad, I know it has to get alot worse, so I couldn't say they were much more than a 6. There has been a little confusion about how far along I am, so they are trying to decide if I can let her just come today if she is ready, or if I have to stay on the medicine for a little longer. Needless to say yesterday was pretty frustrating, and the sleepless nights and bad side effects of the drugs didn't help my emotions! But I have a wonderful husband who has been so patient and sweet to me, and my mom who is more nervous than I am even that were here to help me. Then my wonderful in-laws Brenda and Steve came over and brought a "Christmas Suprise" (which deserves its own post, to be seen at a later date:) to cheer me up. I have been so blessed to have such wonderful family so close by. We are getting so excited and anxious to get our sweet baby here, and I think she is getting pretty excited too!

Good luck with everything! It is so nerve-racking waiting for these babies to come, especially when it is all up in the air. But, I can promise you it is all worth and you will have your sweet baby girl here!

Hang in there Lindsie! I promise you that the longer that baby stays in the better. You don't want to have to leave that baby in the NICU when you come home (I can tell you from lots of experience). I am sure you are nervous and anxious for Lola to come. You and Josh are going to be wonderful parents. And like Heather said, it's all worth it the minute you get to hold that new baby.
